Launch a QA Templates Store on Instamojo
Sell QA testing templates online with UPI payments via Instamojo.
Introduction
30 Second Summary
You spend hours every week writing test cases and filing bugs at work. Other testers would gladly pay for ready-made templates that save them that same setup time.
In this project, you will turn your testing knowledge into a digital product and list it for sale on Instamojo. Buyers across India can pay you instantly via UPI, and the money lands in your bank account automatically.
What You'll Build
You share a link on LinkedIn, a fellow tester clicks it, pays ₹249 via UPI, and your template arrives in their inbox instantly.
By the end of this project, you'll have:
- A professionally designed Test Case Template built from your daily testing work that other manual testers will pay ₹199-299 for.
- A live Instamojo store where any buyer in India can pay via UPI, cards, or net banking and instantly download your template.
- A shareable product link you can post on LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups, and testing communities to start earning while you sleep.
- Secret Mission: Create a second product (Bug Report Template bundle) and set up a discount coupon strategy to turn one-time buyers into bundle customers.
Are there any prerequisites?
No prior experience with selling online or building digital products is needed. This project walks you through every tool from scratch, and all tools used are free.
Before We Start
Before We Start...
Before we dive in, let's lock in what you're about to build and why it matters. You already know what makes a good test case template from your daily work. In this project, you're turning that expertise into a digital product that earns money while you sleep, hosted on a platform built for Indian sellers with UPI payments.
Set Up Your Tools
You need three tools to turn your manual testing knowledge into a product people can buy. A place to create templates, a way to make them look professional, and a platform to collect payments via UPI.
In this step, you will set up Instamojo (India's payment platform for digital product sellers), Google Sheets (for building your template), and Canva (for making it look polished). Once these are ready, you can focus entirely on creating your first product.
In this step, get ready to:
- Create and verify your Instamojo seller account with KYC.
- Confirm access to Google Sheets and sign up for Canva.
- Set up your Instamojo store with a name and URL.
Create your Instamojo account
Instamojo is a payment platform built for Indian sellers. It lets buyers pay you via UPI, cards, or net banking, and the money lands in your bank account within approximately 3 working days.
- Open your browser and go to instamojo.com.
- Click Sign Up at the top of the page.
- Select the Business tab (not Consumer).
- Enter your email address and choose a password.
- Click Sign Up to create your account.
- Verify your mobile number using the OTP sent to your phone.
You should now see your Instamojo dashboard. This is your seller home base where you will manage products, payments, and store settings.
What is KYC?
KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It is a verification process required by Indian payment platforms before they can send money to your bank account. You will need your bank account details and PAN card number to complete it.
- In your Instamojo dashboard, click Settings in the left menu.
- Click Payouts.
- Enter your bank account number and IFSC code.
- Enter your PAN card number.
- Submit your details to complete KYC verification.
Your payout section should now show your linked bank account. KYC verification may take a few hours to a couple of days to be fully approved, but you can continue setting up your store in the meantime.
Not receiving the OTP?
Make sure you entered the correct mobile number. Wait at least 60 seconds before requesting a new OTP. Check that your phone is not blocking messages from unknown senders.
If you are still stuck, help me troubleshoot my Instamojo OTP verification.
Confirm access to Google Sheets and Canva
Google Sheets is where you will build your template spreadsheet. Canva is where you will create a professional-looking cover image for your product listing.
- Open a new browser tab and go to sheets.google.com.
- Sign in with your Google account if prompted.
- Confirm you can see the Google Sheets home screen with the option to create a new blank spreadsheet.
Google Sheets is ready. Now set up Canva.
- Open a new browser tab and go to canva.com.
- Click Sign up if you do not have an account yet.
- Create a free account using your email or Google sign-in.
- Confirm you can see the Canva home screen with design templates.
The free plan is enough
You do not need a paid Canva plan for this project. The free plan gives you access to thousands of templates, which is more than enough to create a product cover image.
Cannot access Google Sheets?
You need a Google account (Gmail) to use Google Sheets. If you do not have one, go to accounts.google.com and create a free account first.
If you are still stuck, help me get access to Google Sheets.
Set up your Instamojo store details
Your Instamojo account exists, but it does not have a store yet. A store gives your products a home page where buyers can browse and purchase.
- Switch back to your Instamojo dashboard tab.
- Click Online Store in the left menu.
- Click Store Details.
- Enter QA Templates Hub as your store name.
- Set your store URL (this becomes the link buyers use to find your store).
- Click Save to publish your store details.
What about the logo?
You can skip the logo upload for now. You will learn how to create one in Canva in the next step when you build your product cover image. Come back and upload it later if you like.
Before you check your work, what do you expect to see when you look at your dashboard now?
- Navigate to Online Store > Store Details and confirm your store name shows as QA Templates Hub.
- Navigate to Settings > Payouts and confirm your bank account is linked.
You should see your store name displayed under Store Details and your bank account listed under Payouts. Both confirm your store is live and ready to receive payments.
Store name not saving?
Make sure you clicked Save after entering the store name. If the page shows an error, check that your store URL does not contain spaces or special characters.
If you are still stuck, help me save my Instamojo store details.
Your tools are locked and loaded. Next up, you will use Google Sheets and Canva to create your first product: a professional Test Case Template that other testers will pay for.
Create Your First QA Template Product
Your tools are set up and your store has a name. Now you need something real to sell before that store matters.
A Test Case Template is something you use every single day at work, so you already know exactly what makes a good one. Other testers will pay for a well-structured, ready-to-use version that saves them hours of setup time.
In this step, get ready to:
- Build a professional Test Case Template in Google Sheets with example test scenarios.
- Format, polish, and download your template as .xlsx and .pdf files.
- Design an eye-catching product cover image in Canva.
Build your Test Case Template in Google Sheets
The template you create here is your actual product. Buyers will judge its value in seconds, so the columns need to cover everything a manual tester reaches for during a test cycle.
- Switch back to Google Sheets in your browser.
- Click the Blank spreadsheet option (the + icon) to create a new spreadsheet.
- Rename the spreadsheet by clicking Untitled spreadsheet at the top left and typing Test Case Template.
Now add your column headers. These are the fields every tester needs when documenting test cases.
- In cell A1, type Test Case ID.
- Continue across the row, entering one header per cell: Title in B1, Module in C1, Preconditions in D1, Test Steps in E1, Test Data in F1.
- Continue with Expected Result in G1, Actual Result in H1, Status in I1, Priority in J1, Tested By in K1, and Date in L1.
You should now see 12 column headers stretching from A1 to L1.
Why these specific columns?
These 12 fields cover the full lifecycle of a test case. Buyers get a template that works straight out of the box, with no columns to add or restructure.
The Status and Priority columns will get dropdown menus later, which makes your template feel polished and prevents testers from typing inconsistent values.
Now add 3-5 example rows showing a real login test scenario. These examples show buyers how to use the template.
- In row 2, enter your first example: TC-001 as the ID, Valid Login with Correct Credentials as the Title, and Login as the Module.
- For the same row, fill in: Preconditions = User account exists and is active, Test Steps = 1. Open login page 2. Enter valid username 3. Enter valid password 4. Click Login.
- Fill in Test Data = user@test.com / Pass123, Expected Result = User redirected to dashboard, Status = Pass, Priority = High.
- Add 3-4 more rows with different login scenarios: invalid password, empty fields, locked account, and SQL injection attempt. Use the same column structure.
Your spreadsheet should now have a header row plus 4-5 example test cases, all based on a login module.
Use scenarios from your own work
If you have real test cases from your job (with sensitive data removed), use those patterns instead of the login examples. Real-world scenarios make your template more convincing to buyers who do similar work.
Format and download your template
Raw data in a spreadsheet does not look like a product worth paying for. Professional formatting signals quality and justifies your price point.
- Select the entire header row (click the row number 1 on the left).
- Click the Fill color button (paint bucket icon) in the toolbar and choose a dark blue or teal color.
- Change the header text to white using the Text color button (the A with a colored bar).
- Bold the header row by pressing Cmd+B (macOS) or Ctrl+B (Windows).
Your header row should now stand out with bold white text on a colored background. Next, freeze it so it stays visible when users scroll.
- Click View in the top menu.
- Click Freeze.
- Select 1 row.
Scroll down a few rows to confirm the header stays pinned at the top. Now add dropdown menus for the Status and Priority columns.
- Select the Status column cells from I2 down to I20 (leave room for future entries).
- Click Data in the top menu, then click Data validation.
- Click Add rule.
- Under Criteria, select Dropdown and enter three options: Pass, Fail, and Blocked.
- Click Done.
- Repeat the same process for the Priority column (J2 to J20) with options: High, Medium, and Low.
Click on any cell in the Status column to confirm a dropdown arrow appears. This small detail makes your template feel like a finished tool, not a raw spreadsheet.
Why do dropdowns matter for a paid product?
Dropdowns prevent typos and keep data consistent across a team. They also signal that you thought about the end user's workflow. Buyers notice these details when deciding whether a template is worth paying for.
Now add a second tab with usage instructions so buyers know how to get started.
- Click the + button at the bottom left of the spreadsheet (next to the existing tab) to add a new sheet.
- Double-click the new tab name and rename it to How to Use.
- In this tab, type brief instructions: what each column means, how to use the dropdowns, and a tip to duplicate the template for each new test cycle.
Your template now has professional formatting, dropdown validation, and a helpful instructions tab. Time to download it.
- Click File in the top menu.
- Click Download.
- Select Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). Rename the downloaded file to TestCaseTemplate.xlsx.
- Go back to File > Download again and select PDF document (.pdf).
- In the PDF export dialog, set the orientation to Landscape so all columns fit. Click Export and rename the file to TestCaseTemplate.pdf.
Check your Downloads folder. You should see both TestCaseTemplate.xlsx and TestCaseTemplate.pdf saved there.
PDF cuts off your columns?
Make sure you selected Landscape orientation in the export dialog. You can also try setting the page size to A3 or reducing the font size in your spreadsheet before exporting again.

Design your product cover image in Canva
Buyers decide whether to click based on the product image. A clean cover showing what the template looks like makes the difference between a scroll-past and a sale.
- Before leaving Google Sheets, take a screenshot of your formatted template (the colored headers and example rows). Save it to your computer.
- Switch back to Canva in your browser.
- Click Create a design in the top right corner.
- Click Custom size and enter 1280 for width and 720 for height (in pixels). Click Create new design.
You now have a blank canvas at the right dimensions. Add your product information to it.
- Choose a clean background color by clicking the canvas and selecting a color from the color picker in the toolbar. A white or light grey works well.
- Click Text in the left sidebar and add a heading. Type your product name: Professional Test Case Template.
- Add a second, smaller text element with the tagline: Save 2+ hours on every test cycle.
- Click Uploads in the left sidebar, then click Upload files and select the spreadsheet screenshot you saved earlier.
- Drag the screenshot onto your canvas and position it so it shows a preview of the template alongside your title and tagline.
Your cover should now show the product name, the tagline, and a visual preview of the spreadsheet. This gives buyers confidence about what they are purchasing.
- Click Share in the top right corner.
- Click Download.
- Select PNG as the file type and click Download.
- Rename the downloaded file to TestCaseTemplate_Cover.png.
Keep it simple
You do not need a perfect design on your first try. A clean layout with readable text and a preview screenshot is better than an over-designed cover. You can always update it later after you see how buyers respond.
Before you move on, do you think all three files are in your Downloads folder?
- Open your Downloads folder in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (macOS).
- Confirm you see all three files: TestCaseTemplate.xlsx, TestCaseTemplate.pdf, and TestCaseTemplate_Cover.png.
Missing a file?
If the .xlsx or .pdf is missing, go back to Google Sheets and repeat the File > Download step. If the Canva image is missing, check that you clicked Download after selecting PNG (not just Share).
Help me find my downloaded files
You have a real product now. Three files sitting on your computer, built entirely from knowledge you already had. Next up, you will list this template on your Instamojo store so buyers can find it, pay for it, and download it instantly.
List Your Product on Instamojo
You have a polished template sitting on your computer, but nobody can buy it yet.
Listing it on Instamojo connects your product to a payment system that accepts UPI, cards, and net banking. Any tester in India who finds your link can buy it instantly and receive the files automatically.
In this step, get ready to:
- Fill in your product listing details (title, price, descriptions).
- Upload your cover image and template files for buyers.
- Configure a thank you note and publish your product live.
Create your digital product listing
Instamojo needs a few details before it can show your product to buyers. You will fill in the title, price, and descriptions that appear on your product page.
- In your Instamojo dashboard, click Add Product in the left panel.
- Select Digital Product as the product type.
- In the Product Title field, enter Professional Test Case Template - Excel + PDF.
- In the Price field, enter 249 (this sets the price to ₹249).
- In the Short Description field, write 1-2 lines summarising what the buyer gets. For example: Ready-to-use Test Case Template in Excel + PDF. Includes 12 essential columns, data validation dropdowns, example rows, and a How to Use guide.
- In the Description field, write a detailed description covering: the template features (frozen headers, dropdown validation, color-coded columns), the 12 columns included, who it is for (manual testers, QA leads, freshers building their process), and how it saves time.
You should now see your product form with the title, price, and both descriptions filled in.
What is a product link?
When you add a product on Instamojo, it generates a unique URL called a product link. This link is what you share on LinkedIn, WhatsApp, or anywhere else. Anyone who clicks it sees your product page and can pay immediately.
Not seeing the Digital Product option?
Make sure you are clicking Add Product (in the left panel), not Create a Payment Link. Payment links are for one-off invoicing. Product links are for your store.
help me find the Add Product button in my Instamojo dashboard
Upload your cover image and template files
Your listing needs two things buyers will interact with: a product image they see before buying, and the template files they receive after paying.
- In the product image section, click to upload your TestCaseTemplate_Cover.png file (the 1280x720px cover you created in Canva).
- In the digital file upload section, upload TestCaseTemplate.xlsx as the first file buyers receive after payment.
- Upload TestCaseTemplate.pdf as the second file so buyers get both the editable spreadsheet and a printable reference.
Your product form should now show the cover image preview and both uploaded files listed as buyer downloads.
Why include both formats?
The .xlsx file lets buyers customise the template in Excel or Google Sheets. The .pdf gives them a quick-reference printout they can use during test planning without opening a spreadsheet. Offering both increases the perceived value of a ₹249 purchase.
Upload failing or stuck?
Instamojo supports PNG and JPEG for images. If your cover image upload fails, confirm the file is saved as .png and is under 5MB.
For the template files, ensure both files are fully downloaded (not still syncing from Google Drive) before uploading.

Add a thank you note and publish your product
The last step before going live is adding a personal note that buyers see after purchasing. This is your chance to build a relationship and direct them to more of your content.
- Scroll down to Advanced Settings on the product form.
- In the Custom Thank You Note field, enter a message like: Thank you for purchasing! If you need templates for Bug Reports or Test Plans, follow me on LinkedIn for updates.
- Click Add Product to the Store to publish your product.
What does the Custom Thank You Note do?
This message appears in the email purchase receipt that Instamojo automatically sends to your buyer. It is a free touchpoint to ask for a review, offer a discount on future purchases, or invite them to follow you on social media.
Before you check the result, predict what you expect to see when you click the product link. Will you see the price, the cover image, and payment options?
- After publishing, Instamojo shows your new product with a shareable link. Click this product link to open it in a new tab.
You should see your product page live with the cover image displayed, your full description, a price of ₹249, and a Buy Now button that shows UPI, card, and net banking payment options.
Product page not loading or showing incorrect details?
If the page shows a 404 error, wait 1-2 minutes for Instamojo to finish publishing. Try refreshing.
If the price or title is wrong, go back to your dashboard, find the product under All Products, and click to edit it. Changes save immediately.
help me fix my Instamojo product page that is not displaying correctly
Your first digital product is live and accepting payments. Next up, you will test the buying experience yourself and share your product link on LinkedIn to start reaching real customers.
Test the Payment Flow and Share Your First Link
Your Test Case Template is live on Instamojo with a working product page. But you have not tested what a buyer actually sees when they try to pay.
If a customer hits an error during checkout, you lose the sale without ever knowing. In this step, you will verify the full payment flow works, then share your product link publicly to start attracting buyers.
In this step, get ready to:
- Verify the checkout flow shows the correct price and payment options.
- Publish a LinkedIn post with your product link.
- Share the link in QA communities for feedback and sales.
Verify the payment flow in incognito
You need to experience the checkout exactly the way a first-time buyer would. An incognito window has no saved sessions or cached data, so it simulates a stranger clicking your link.
- Switch back to your Instamojo dashboard.
- Click Online Store in the left panel, then click on your product ("Professional Test Case Template - Excel + PDF").
- Copy the product page URL from your browser's address bar. This is your shareable product link.
- Open a new incognito or private browser window.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+N (macOS) in Chrome to open incognito mode.
- Paste your product link into the address bar and press Enter.
You should see your product page with the cover image, product title, description, and a Buy Now button.
- Click Buy Now on the product page.
Before you look at the checkout page, what payment methods do you expect to see for Indian buyers?
- Confirm the checkout page displays the product name "Professional Test Case Template - Excel + PDF" and the price ₹249.
- Confirm you see payment options including UPI (GPay, PhonePe), credit/debit cards, and net banking.
- Do NOT complete the payment. You are only verifying that the checkout page loads correctly with all options visible.
Why test in incognito?
Incognito mode clears all cookies and login sessions. This shows you exactly what a stranger sees when they click your product link for the first time. If the page loads correctly here, it will work for every buyer.
Product page not loading?
Make sure you copied the full URL from the address bar, not just part of it. The link should start with your Instamojo store domain.
Check that your product is published and not in draft mode. Return to your Instamojo dashboard and confirm the product status is active.
Help me figure out why my Instamojo product page is not loading in incognito.
Write and publish your LinkedIn post
Your product works. Now you need people to find it. LinkedIn is where your target audience (working QA testers) already spends time, making it the best place to announce your template.
- Open linkedin.com in your browser.
- Sign in to your LinkedIn account. If you do not have one, create a free account using your email.
- Click Start a post at the top of your home feed.
- Write a short post (3-4 lines) that introduces you as a manual tester, mentions you created a ready-to-use Test Case Template, states the problem it solves (saves 2+ hours per test cycle), and includes your Instamojo product link.
- Click Post to publish.
Frame value, not features
Lead with the problem you solve, not a list of columns in your spreadsheet. Something like "I used to spend 30 minutes setting up test case sheets for every new project" is more relatable than "12-column template with dropdowns."
End with a low-pressure call to action. "Check it out if this would save you time" works better than "Buy now."
Your post should now appear in your LinkedIn feed with the product link visible as a clickable URL.
Share your link in QA communities
LinkedIn gives you reach, but QA-specific groups give you a concentrated audience of exactly the people who need your template.
- Copy your Instamojo product link again.
- Open 2-3 QA-focused WhatsApp or Telegram groups you are part of.
- Share the link with a short message. Frame it as something you built for fellow testers ("I made this for testers like us") rather than a hard sell.
- Ask for honest feedback on the template. This builds goodwill and helps you improve the product.
No QA groups yet?
Search for "Manual Testing", "QA Engineers India", or "Software Testing" on Telegram or WhatsApp community directories. Join 2-3 groups today. Even if you do not share your link immediately, these communities become long-term sales channels.
Now verify the full loop works end to end.
- Go to your LinkedIn profile and find your published post.
- Click the Instamojo product link directly from your LinkedIn post.
- Confirm it opens your product page with the correct title, price (₹249), and the Buy Now button.
Your product is now live, verified, and publicly shared. Anyone who clicks that link can buy your template instantly using UPI, cards, or net banking.
Link not clickable on LinkedIn?
Make sure you pasted the full URL including the https:// prefix. LinkedIn only makes URLs clickable if they include the protocol.
If the link preview looks broken, try editing your post and re-pasting the URL on its own line.

Secret mission
Create a Bundle and Discount Strategy
You have one product earning small money. What if you could turn one-time buyers into repeat customers and dramatically increase your average order value? In this secret mission, you will create a second product, bundle both templates together at a discount, and configure a promo code to drive more sales.
Clean Up Your Resources
Clean Up Your Resources
Decide whether to keep your resources running, pause them to come back later, or delete them entirely. This project runs on Instamojo's free plan, so there are no ongoing monthly costs. You only pay the transaction fee (5% + ₹3 + GST) when someone buys your product.
Resources you used:
- Instamojo store with 3 digital product listings (free plan, no monthly cost).
- Local template files (TestCaseTemplate.xlsx, TestCaseTemplate.pdf, BugReportTemplate.xlsx, BugReportTemplate.pdf, TestCaseTemplate_Cover.png).
- LinkedIn post with product link.
Keep everything running
No action needed. Choose this if you want to keep earning from your templates. Your Instamojo store stays live permanently at zero monthly cost. You earn money whenever someone buys a product.
- Your store, product listings, and discount codes remain active indefinitely.
- Your LinkedIn post continues driving traffic to your product links.
- You only pay when you make a sale (5% + ₹3 + GST per transaction).
Pause - I'll come back to this later
Temporarily hide your products while keeping everything saved. Choose this if you want to take a break but come back later.
- In your Instamojo dashboard, click Products in the left menu, then All Products.
- Unpublish each product listing you want to hide. This removes it from your public store without deleting the listing or uploaded files.
- Your store URL remains active but shows no products until you republish.
- Keep your local template files on your computer so you can re-list them anytime.
Delete - I don't want to use this again
Remove all project resources and start fresh. Choose this if you do not plan to sell templates and want a clean slate.
- In your Instamojo dashboard, click Products in the left menu, then All Products. Select each product listing and delete it.
- Go to Store Settings > Discounts and remove the QASTART discount code.
- Delete the local template files from your computer (TestCaseTemplate.xlsx, TestCaseTemplate.pdf, BugReportTemplate.xlsx, BugReportTemplate.pdf, and TestCaseTemplate_Cover.png).
- On LinkedIn, find your product post, click the three-dot menu on the post, and select Delete post.
What about the Instamojo account itself?
Your Instamojo account on the free plan has no monthly charges, so there is no financial reason to close it. If you still want to close your account, email support@instamojo.com from your registered email address with a request to delete your account.
Scale when revenue grows
As your revenue grows past ₹5,000/month, consider upgrading to Instamojo's Growth plan (₹9,999/year) to reduce transaction fees to 2% + ₹3 + GST per sale.
