Build a Ministry Assessment SaaS App
Build an AI-powered ministry health assessment app with no code.
Introduction
30 Second Summary
Every pastor wants honest feedback on how their ministry is really doing. Hiring a consultant costs thousands and takes weeks, but AI can deliver personalized insights in minutes.
In this project, you will build and deploy a live AI-powered ministry consulting application using Lovable, a no-code app builder. Pastors will complete a guided 10-category health assessment and receive a personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot report with AI-generated consulting insights.
What You'll Build
A pastor opens your live URL, creates an account, walks through a guided ministry health assessment across 10 categories, and within minutes receives an AI-generated report that scores their ministry and delivers personalized recommendations they can act on immediately.
By the end of this project, you'll have:
- A guided 10-category assessment where pastors evaluate their ministry health using a 5-level maturity scale, with progress saved automatically between sessions.
- An AI-powered Kingdom Growth Snapshot that generates a Ministry Health Score (0-100), top 3 strengths, top 3 growth opportunities, and a personalized executive summary unique to each ministry.
- A live deployed URL you can share with real pastors today, complete with user accounts so they can sign up, log in, and return anytime to view their results.
- Secret Mission: Add a branded PDF export so pastors can download and share their Kingdom Growth Snapshot with their leadership team.
Are there any prerequisites?
No technical experience is required. This guide walks you through everything from account creation to deployment. You will need a Lovable Pro plan ($25/month) which provides the backend, AI, and publishing features used throughout this project.
Before We Start
Before We Start...
Before we dive in, let's lock in what you're about to build and why it matters. Imagine a pastor opening your app for the first time and receiving a personalized consulting report about their ministry's health in under 10 minutes.
Set Up Your Lovable Workspace
Lovable is a full-stack AI development platform that builds, deploys, and hosts web applications from natural language prompts. To power the Kingdom Growth Snapshot with a database, user authentication, and AI-generated reports, you need access to Lovable Cloud.
In this step, you will create your Lovable account and upgrade to the Pro plan. This unlocks all the backend infrastructure your application needs to store assessment data and generate personalized insights.
In this step, get ready to:
- Create your Lovable account.
- Upgrade to the Pro plan.
- Verify your workspace is ready to build.
Create your Lovable account
Lovable is a browser-based platform. You do not need to install anything on your computer.
- Open your browser and navigate to lovable.dev.
- Click Get started.
- Sign up with your Google account or email address.
- After sign-up, Lovable automatically creates your first workspace on the free plan and takes you to the dashboard.
You should now see the Lovable dashboard with a message box in the center for creating your first project.
What is the Lovable dashboard?
The dashboard is your home base in Lovable. It is where you create new projects, access existing ones, and manage workspace settings. The message box in the center is where you type natural language prompts to generate entire applications.
Upgrade to the Pro plan
The free plan gives you 5 daily credits for building. To access Lovable Cloud (database, authentication, storage, AI features) and one-click publishing, you need the Pro plan.
This step requires a paid subscription
The Lovable Pro plan costs $25/month and includes 100 monthly credits. These credits cover building your app, hosting it with Lovable Cloud, and powering AI features in the deployed application.
- In the dashboard sidebar, click your avatar at the bottom-left to open the user menu.
- Click Settings.
- Navigate to Plans & credit usage in the settings sidebar.
- Choose 100 from the credits per month dropdown (this is the Pro plan at $25/month).
- Click Upgrade.
- Complete the payment in the Stripe portal that opens.
What do credits cover?
Lovable uses a unified credit system. Your 100 monthly credits cover three things: building the app (each prompt you send), hosting and running it with Lovable Cloud, and powering AI features in deployed apps. You also get 5 free daily build credits and 20 free monthly Cloud credits on top of your plan.
Not seeing the upgrade option?
If you do not see Plans & credit usage in your settings, try clicking the Upgrade plan card that appears directly in the dashboard sidebar. This is a shortcut to the same page.
help me find the upgrade option in Lovable
Verify your workspace is ready
Before moving on, confirm three things: your plan is active, Lovable Cloud is enabled, and you can see the project creation prompt.
- In the dashboard, click your workspace name in the top-left. You should see a credit bar showing your remaining credits from the 100 monthly allocation.
- Navigate to Connectors in the sidebar.
- Click App connectors, then find Lovable Cloud and click Manage permissions.
- Confirm the Enable Cloud setting shows Always allow. This is the default, so no changes should be needed.
- Return to the dashboard by clicking Home in the sidebar.
What do you expect to see on the dashboard now that your Pro plan is active?
You should see the project creation message box in the center of the dashboard, your credit bar reflecting the Pro plan allocation, and the Connectors option available in the sidebar. This confirms your workspace is fully configured.
Credits not showing up?
If your credit bar still shows the free plan allowance, the Stripe payment may still be processing. Wait a minute and refresh the page. If credits still do not appear after refreshing, check your email for a payment confirmation from Stripe.

Your workspace is ready to build. Next up, you will generate the entire Kingdom Growth Snapshot application structure with a single prompt.
Generate Your Base Application
Building a multi-page web application from scratch typically takes weeks of development. Your Kingdom Growth Snapshot needs a welcome page, user authentication, a 10-category assessment flow, and a results dashboard.
Lovable generates full-stack applications from a single detailed prompt. In this step, you will submit one comprehensive prompt that describes your entire application, and Lovable will generate the pages, navigation, database schema, and authentication in about 60 seconds.
In this step, get ready to:
- Submit the initial project prompt to generate the full application structure.
- Review the generated pages and navigation in the preview panel.
- Enable Lovable Cloud and verify the backend database tables.
Submit the initial project prompt
Lovable works best with a detailed, structured prompt that describes the full application vision upfront. You will paste a comprehensive prompt that covers every page, the color scheme, the assessment structure, and the database requirements.
The prompt is shown in three sections below for readability. Copy all three sections together as one continuous message before pasting into Lovable.
- Copy the first section of the prompt, which describes the application purpose, authentication, and welcome page:
Build a professional web application called "Kingdom Growth Snapshot" by Kingdom Growth AI.
PURPOSE: This is an AI-powered ministry consulting platform that helps pastors and church leaders evaluate the health of their ministry and receive a personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot report.
AUTHENTICATION: Include user registration and login. Users should be able to sign up with email and password. After login, users access their personal dashboard.
PAGES NEEDED:
1. WELCOME PAGE (public, before login):
- Headline: "Discover Your Ministry Health Score"
- Subheadline: "A free AI-powered assessment that evaluates 10 areas of your ministry and delivers personalized consulting insights in minutes."
- Explain what they will receive: a Ministry Health Score (0-100), their top 3 ministry strengths, their top 3 growth opportunities, and a personalized executive summary
- Explain the process: 10 ministry categories, approximately 25 questions, takes about 10 minutes
- Prominent "Start Your Free Assessment" button that leads to sign up/login
- Professional, modern design with a color palette of deep navy blue, white, and gold accents. This should look like a premium consulting firm, not a church bulletin.
What does this section cover?
This first section tells Lovable the app's identity (Kingdom Growth Snapshot), that it needs email/password authentication, and exactly what the public-facing welcome page should display. The color palette specification ensures Lovable applies the navy, white, and gold scheme from the start.
- Copy the second section, which describes the assessment page structure:
2. ASSESSMENT PAGE (authenticated):
- A guided, multi-step assessment organized into 10 ministry categories
- Show one category at a time with a progress bar showing "Category X of 10"
- Each category displays a brief introduction paragraph, then 2-3 questions
- Each question uses a 5-point maturity scale with radio buttons or selectable cards:
- 1: Not Established - "This area of ministry does not currently exist or has not been intentionally developed."
- 2: Emerging - "Initial efforts have begun, but the ministry lacks consistency, structure, or measurable effectiveness."
- 3: Developing - "The ministry is functioning consistently and producing results but has clear opportunities for improvement."
- 4: Healthy - "The ministry is well organized, effective, and consistently fulfills its intended purpose."
- 5: Thriving - "The ministry demonstrates excellence, measurable impact, strong leadership, and serves as a model."
- Include a Next button and a Back button for navigation between categories
- Save progress automatically so users can return later if interrupted
- The 10 categories in order: Leadership and Vision, Discipleship, Evangelism and Outreach, Worship Experience, Children's and Family Ministry, Volunteer Development, Digital Ministry and Communications, Financial Stewardship, Administration and Operations, Strategic Planning
What does this section cover?
This section defines the core assessment experience. It specifies the 5-level maturity scale with exact descriptions, the 10 categories in their correct order, and UX requirements like progress saving and back/next navigation. Lovable uses all of this to generate the multi-step flow.
- Copy the third section, which describes the results page, database design, and visual styling:
3. RESULTS/DASHBOARD PAGE (authenticated):
- Display the Kingdom Growth Snapshot after assessment completion
- Show Ministry Health Score as a large number out of 100 with a circular progress indicator
- Show all 10 category scores in a grid or list with color coding (red for Critical, orange for Needs Attention, yellow for Developing, green for Healthy, dark green for Thriving)
- Section for "Your Top 3 Strengths" with AI-generated explanations
- Section for "Your Top 3 Growth Opportunities" with AI-generated recommendations
- Section for "Executive Summary" with AI-generated narrative
- A teaser section at the bottom: "Want the full Kingdom Growth Report? The complete consulting experience includes a 30-60-90 day action plan, department-by-department analysis, and strategic recommendations. Coming soon."
DATABASE: Store all user data, assessment responses (individual question scores), category scores, overall score, and AI-generated report content. Design the database so new categories can be added in the future without restructuring.
DESIGN: Modern, clean, professional. Navy blue (#1B2A4A), white (#FFFFFF), gold (#C9A84C) color palette. Clean typography. Mobile-responsive. Should feel like a premium consulting firm's digital platform.
What does this section cover?
This final section defines the results dashboard layout (score ring, category breakdown, strengths, growth opportunities, and executive summary), the database design requirement for extensibility, and the overall visual design direction. The explicit hex codes ensure Lovable matches your brand colors.
- Combine all three sections into one continuous message. In the Lovable dashboard, paste the full combined prompt into the prompt input box.
- Make sure the mode toggle next to the send button is set to Build (this is the default).
- Click the send button to submit your prompt.
The send button turns into a loading indicator. Lovable takes 30-60 seconds to generate your application. When it finishes, a preview of the generated app appears in the right panel of the editor.
Keep the full prompt handy
If Lovable's generation misses a section, you can send a follow-up message referencing what was missed. Having the original prompt open in a separate tab makes this easy.
Send button not responding?
Make sure your prompt is not empty. The send button only activates when there is text in the input box. If the button shows a loading indicator for more than 2 minutes, refresh the page and try again.
My Lovable prompt is not submitting or has been loading for a long time
Review the generated application structure
Lovable's initial generation gives you a working foundation. It will not be perfect on the first pass, but it should have the major structural elements in place.
- In the preview panel on the right side of the editor, click through the generated pages.
- Verify that you can see a welcome/landing page with the headline and a call-to-action button.
- Verify that login and signup screens exist (click Start Your Free Assessment or look for navigation links).
- Verify that an assessment flow structure is present, even if the questions are placeholder content for now.
- Verify that a results/dashboard page exists with sections for scores and insights.
- Check that the color scheme is close to the specification: navy backgrounds, white text, and gold accents.
You should see a multi-page application with a professional look. The pages may not be perfect yet, but the structural bones should be visible.
What if major elements are missing?
If the generation is missing entire pages (no assessment flow, no auth pages, or no results page), send a follow-up message in the Lovable chat. Be specific about what is missing.
For example: "The assessment page is missing. Please add a multi-step assessment flow organized into 10 categories with a progress bar and maturity scale questions." Lovable processes one change at a time, so focus each follow-up on a single missing element.
Preview panel showing a blank page?
Click the refresh icon in the preview toolbar to reload the preview. If the page is still blank, check the chat panel on the left for any error messages from Lovable. You may need to send a follow-up message asking Lovable to fix the issue.
Help me fix my blank preview in Lovable
Enable Lovable Cloud and verify the backend
Your application needs a backend to store user accounts, save assessment responses, and persist generated reports. Lovable Cloud provides a built-in database, authentication, and edge functions without any separate infrastructure setup.
What is Lovable Cloud?
Lovable Cloud is a full-stack hosting platform built on Supabase's open-source foundation. It gives your app a PostgreSQL database, user authentication, file storage, and serverless edge functions.
Because it is built into Lovable, you do not need to create a separate account or manage any infrastructure. It is enabled by default in your workspace settings.
- Check the Lovable chat panel for any mention of database tables being created during the initial generation. If you see references to tables like assessments or users, the backend is already connected.
- If no backend was created automatically, paste the following prompt into the Lovable chat to enable it:
Enable Lovable Cloud for this project. I need:
- User authentication (email/password sign up and login)
- A PostgreSQL database to store assessment responses, category scores, and AI-generated reports
- The ability to save assessment progress so users can return later
- Edge functions for AI-powered report generation
Please set up the database tables for: users, assessments, assessment_responses, categories, and snapshot_reports. The categories table should store the 10 ministry categories as data records (not hardcoded) so I can add more categories in the future without changing the application structure.
What does this prompt do?
This prompt tells Lovable to create five database tables: users (managed by auth), assessments (tracking each session), assessment_responses (individual question scores), categories (the 10 ministry areas stored as data), and snapshot_reports (AI-generated report content).
Storing categories as database records instead of hardcoding them means you can add new categories later without changing the application logic.
- Click the send button to submit the backend prompt.
- Wait for Lovable to process the request. You will see messages in the chat confirming that database tables and authentication have been set up.
Now verify that authentication is working in the preview.
- In the preview panel, navigate to the signup page.
- Enter a test email and password to confirm the signup form accepts input and submits without errors.
- Navigate to the login page and verify it also accepts input.
Before moving on, predict what you expect to see when you click through the full application. Will every page be polished, or will it be a rough structural foundation?
Click through the welcome page, signup, login, assessment structure, and results page in order. You should see all five page types present and navigable. The assessment should show some form of category structure. Authentication pages should accept input. The navy, white, and gold color scheme should be visible across pages.
What should I see?
You have a working application skeleton with authentication, multiple pages, and a connected database. The content is rough and will be refined in the next step.
The important thing is that the structural foundation exists: pages load, navigation works, and the backend is connected.
Authentication not working in preview?
If signup or login throws an error, send Lovable a follow-up message: "The authentication is not working. When I try to sign up, I see an error. Please fix the auth setup so sign up and login work correctly." Lovable will debug and fix the connection.
Help me fix my Lovable Cloud authentication
Your application skeleton is ready. Next up, you will fill in the complete assessment experience with all 27 questions across 10 categories and polish the UX to feel like a premium consulting engagement.
Build the Complete Assessment Experience
Your base application has the structure of an assessment, but right now it is a skeleton. A pastor opening this would see a rough form, not a premium consulting experience.
In this step, you will populate all 10 ministry categories with specific, strategically relevant questions and polish the welcome page so the entire experience feels like working with a real consulting firm.
In this step, get ready to:
- Send the complete assessment questions prompt with all 27 questions across 10 categories.
- Refine the welcome page with a professional hero section, value propositions, and credibility elements.
- Test the full assessment flow end-to-end and iterate until it feels polished.
Send the complete assessment questions prompt
The assessment is the core product. Each category needs an introduction paragraph that frames what it evaluates, followed by 2-3 specific questions using the 5-level maturity scale.
You will send this as a single message to Lovable. The prompt is long because it contains all 27 questions. Copy all three parts below and paste them together into one message.
- In the Lovable editor message box (below the preview panel), paste the following prompt. Start with this first section:
Update the assessment with the following exact questions for each category. Each question should use the 5-level maturity scale (1-Not Established, 2-Emerging, 3-Developing, 4-Healthy, 5-Thriving). Display the full maturity level descriptions when a user selects or hovers over each option.
Add a brief introduction paragraph before each category's questions explaining what this category evaluates.
CATEGORY 1: LEADERSHIP AND VISION
Introduction: "Effective ministry begins with clear, God-given vision and leaders who can communicate and execute that vision with excellence."
Questions:
- "Our church has a clearly articulated vision and mission that is understood and embraced by the congregation."
- "Our senior leadership team demonstrates healthy collaboration, accountability, and ongoing development."
- "We have an intentional leadership pipeline that identifies, develops, and deploys new leaders at every level."
CATEGORY 2: DISCIPLESHIP
Introduction: "Discipleship is the core mission of the church — helping people grow from spiritual infancy to mature, reproducing followers of Christ."
Questions:
- "Our church has a clear, structured pathway for helping new believers grow into mature disciples."
- "We have active small groups, mentoring relationships, or discipleship programs that produce measurable spiritual growth."
- "Our members are equipped and expected to disciple others, not just be discipled themselves."
CATEGORY 3: EVANGELISM AND OUTREACH
Introduction: "A healthy church is an outward-facing church that actively shares the gospel and serves its community."
Questions:
- "Our church has an intentional evangelism strategy that regularly results in new people coming to faith."
- "We actively serve our local community through outreach programs, partnerships, or compassion ministries."
- "Our members are trained, encouraged, and equipped to share their faith in everyday life."
- Continue in the same message with categories 4 through 7:
CATEGORY 4: WORSHIP EXPERIENCE
Introduction: "The worship experience is often the front door of your church — the first impression that shapes whether visitors return."
Questions:
- "Our worship services are well-planned, spiritually engaging, and executed with excellence."
- "We have a process for welcoming first-time visitors that makes them feel valued, informed, and invited to return."
CATEGORY 5: CHILDREN'S AND FAMILY MINISTRY
Introduction: "Investing in the next generation and supporting families is one of the most strategic things a church can do for long-term Kingdom impact."
Questions:
- "Our children's ministry provides age-appropriate, engaging, and doctrinally sound teaching with trained and vetted volunteers."
- "We actively support and resource families through parenting classes, family events, or pastoral care for households."
CATEGORY 6: VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
Introduction: "Healthy churches do not run on staff alone — they mobilize the body of Christ by helping every member discover and deploy their gifts."
Questions:
- "We have a clear system for helping members discover their spiritual gifts, passions, and ministry fit."
- "Our volunteers are consistently recruited, trained, appreciated, and given opportunities to grow in their service."
CATEGORY 7: DIGITAL MINISTRY AND COMMUNICATIONS
Introduction: "In today's world, your digital presence is often the first encounter people have with your church — and it must be intentional."
Questions:
- "Our church has a professional, up-to-date website and active social media presence that accurately represents who we are."
- "We use digital tools strategically for communication, engagement, online giving, and extending our ministry reach beyond Sunday."
- "We have a consistent communications strategy that keeps our congregation informed, connected, and engaged throughout the week."
- Finish the same message with categories 8 through 10, plus the closing instructions:
CATEGORY 8: FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
Introduction: "Financial health enables ministry health. A well-stewarded budget reflects a church's true priorities."
Questions:
- "Our church operates with a transparent, well-managed budget that aligns spending with our stated mission and vision."
- "We actively teach and encourage biblical stewardship, generosity, and financial faithfulness among our members."
- "Our church has adequate financial reserves, minimal debt, and a plan for long-term financial sustainability."
CATEGORY 9: ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATIONS
Introduction: "Excellent administration removes friction and creates an environment where ministry can flourish without unnecessary obstacles."
Questions:
- "Our church has clear organizational structure, defined roles, written policies, and efficient operational systems."
- "We use technology effectively to manage church operations including member management, scheduling, communications, and reporting."
CATEGORY 10: STRATEGIC PLANNING
Introduction: "Ministry without strategy is activity without impact. Strategic planning ensures your church moves intentionally toward its God-given vision."
Questions:
- "Our church has a documented strategic plan with specific goals, timelines, and accountability measures."
- "We regularly evaluate ministry effectiveness using data, feedback, and measurable outcomes to inform decisions."
- "Our leadership team looks 3-5 years ahead and proactively plans for growth rather than only reacting to immediate needs."
TOTAL: 27 questions across 10 categories.
Also please ensure:
- Progress saves automatically after each category (so users can close and return later)
- The Back button lets users review and change previous answers
- After the final category, show a confirmation screen: "Your assessment is complete. Click below to generate your personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot." with a "Generate My Snapshot" button.
- Send the complete message and wait for Lovable to process and update the application (this may take 30-60 seconds).
What does this prompt do?
This single message gives Lovable everything it needs to build the full assessment: category names, introduction text for each, exact question wording, the maturity scale format, progress saving requirements, back/next navigation, and a completion screen.
By providing all 27 questions in one structured prompt, Lovable can build the entire flow with consistent formatting rather than piecing together separate requests.
- Once Lovable finishes generating, click through the assessment in the preview panel.
- Verify you can see Category 1 (Leadership and Vision) with its introduction paragraph and three questions.
- Click Next to confirm navigation works between categories.
Assessment not showing all categories?
If some categories are missing or questions are truncated, send a follow-up message: "Please make sure all 10 categories are present with all their questions. Categories 8, 9, and 10 appear to be missing." Adjust the message based on what you see.
If Lovable shows an error or the generation seems incomplete, check your credit balance in the workspace settings. Each generation uses credits from your 100 monthly allocation.
Still stuck? Help me troubleshoot why Lovable did not generate all 10 assessment categories from my prompt.
Send the welcome page refinement prompt
The welcome page is a pastor's first impression. Right now it has the basic structure from the initial generation, but it needs specific copy and sections that communicate clear value and professionalism.
- In the Lovable editor message box, paste the following welcome page prompt and send it:
Refine the welcome page with these specific elements:
HERO SECTION:
- Headline: "Discover Your Ministry Health Score"
- Subheadline: "In just 10 minutes, receive AI-powered consulting insights that would normally cost thousands from a ministry consulting firm."
- A "Start Your Free Assessment" button (links to signup/login)
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE SECTION:
- "Ministry Health Score" — A comprehensive score (0-100) measuring your ministry's overall health across 10 key areas
- "Top 3 Strengths" — Discover what your ministry does well and how to build on it
- "Top 3 Growth Opportunities" — Identify the specific areas where focused effort will produce the greatest results
- "Executive Summary" — A personalized narrative analysis of your ministry written by AI that has analyzed hundreds of ministry growth patterns
HOW IT WORKS SECTION:
- Step 1: Create your free account (30 seconds)
- Step 2: Complete the Ministry Health Assessment (10 minutes)
- Step 3: Receive your Kingdom Growth Snapshot (instant)
CREDIBILITY SECTION:
- "Evaluates 10 critical areas of ministry health"
- "Based on proven ministry consulting frameworks"
- "Powered by AI trained on church growth principles"
- "Used by pastors and ministry leaders across denominations"
FOOTER:
- "Kingdom Growth Snapshot is a product of Kingdom Growth AI"
- "Copyright 2025 Kingdom Growth AI. All rights reserved."
- Link to a simple "About" or "Contact" page (can be a placeholder for now)
What does this prompt do?
This transforms the generic landing page into a professional consulting firm experience. The hero section hooks the visitor, the "What You'll Receive" section sets expectations, and the credibility section builds trust.
The "How It Works" section reduces friction by showing the process is quick and simple. Three clear steps make it feel achievable.
- Wait for Lovable to process and update the preview.
- Click on the welcome page in the preview panel.
- Verify you see the headline "Discover Your Ministry Health Score" and a prominent Start Your Free Assessment button.
- Scroll down to confirm the "What You'll Receive," "How It Works," credibility section, and footer all appear.
Welcome page still looks generic?
If the welcome page did not update, Lovable may have applied changes to a different page. Send a follow-up: "Please apply these changes specifically to the landing page that visitors see before logging in."
If sections are out of order or missing, send a targeted fix: "The welcome page should show sections in this order: Hero, What You'll Receive, How It Works, Credibility, Footer."
Need help? My Lovable welcome page is not updating with the new content I prompted.
Test the complete assessment flow and iterate
Sending the prompts gets you 80% of the way there. The remaining 20% comes from walking through the experience as a real pastor would and fixing what feels off.
- In the preview panel, click Start Your Free Assessment on the welcome page.
- Sign up with a test account (use any email and password).
- Begin the assessment and verify Category 1 (Leadership and Vision) shows its introduction paragraph and all 3 questions.
- Select a maturity level for each question and confirm the descriptions are visible (not just numbers 1-5).
- Click Next and walk through all 10 categories, answering every question.
- After Category 10, confirm the completion screen appears with a "Generate My Snapshot" button.
What to check as you click through
- All 10 categories present in the correct order.
- Each category shows its introduction paragraph before the questions.
- All 27 questions display with the full 5-level maturity scale and descriptions.
- The Back button lets you return to a previous category with answers preserved.
- The progress indicator updates as you advance.
- The assessment is usable on a phone-sized screen (toggle mobile view in the preview).
- For any issues you find, send a follow-up message to Lovable describing the specific problem and the fix you want.
Effective follow-up prompts
Be specific about what is wrong and what you want instead. "The maturity scale descriptions are cut off on mobile view. Please make them fully visible" works better than "fix the mobile layout."
If a category shows the wrong introduction text, paste the correct text in your message: "Category 7 should have this introduction: [paste the correct text]."
Before you consider this substep done, ask yourself: does clicking through all 10 categories and answering 27 questions feel like a polished consulting experience, or a rough prototype?
- Continue sending refinement messages until the assessment feels complete and professional.
- Test the progress-saving feature by refreshing the page mid-assessment. Your answers should still be there when the page reloads.
Progress not saving between categories?
If answers disappear when you refresh or navigate back, send this message to Lovable: "Assessment progress is not saving between categories. Please save responses to the database after each category is completed so users can return later."
This relies on Lovable Cloud being connected. If saving fails entirely, check your project's backend connection under Connectors in workspace settings.
Still having issues? Help me get assessment progress saving to work in my Lovable Cloud project.
Your assessment is built and your welcome page is polished. Next up, you will wire in the AI that transforms these raw scores into a personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot report.
Add AI-Powered Snapshot Generation
Your assessment now collects responses across all 10 ministry categories. Without analysis, though, it is just a data collection form.
In this step, you will integrate Lovable AI to transform raw scores into a personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot. This is the moment the product goes from form to consultant.
In this step, get ready to:
- Send an AI integration prompt that defines score calculation logic and the consulting system prompt.
- Configure the results page to display the Kingdom Growth Snapshot as a professional report.
- Test AI output quality with multiple score scenarios to verify personalized, specific insights.
Send the AI integration prompt
The assessment collects scores, but nothing processes them yet. You need logic that calculates category averages, maps them to a 0-100 scale, and feeds them into an AI model that generates consulting insights.
- In the Lovable editor message box, paste the following prompt sections together as one single message. Start with this calculation section:
After the user clicks "Generate My Snapshot" on the assessment completion screen, use Lovable AI to analyze their assessment responses and generate a personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot. Here is exactly how this should work:
CALCULATION (do this with code logic, not AI):
1. For each of the 10 categories, calculate the average score (sum of question scores in that category divided by number of questions). This gives a category score from 1.0 to 5.0.
2. Convert each category score to a 0-100 scale by multiplying by 20. Example: average of 3.5 becomes 70.
3. Assign a maturity label to each category score:
- 0-20: "Critical"
- 21-40: "Needs Attention"
- 41-60: "Developing"
- 61-80: "Healthy"
- 81-100: "Thriving"
4. Calculate the overall Ministry Health Score as the average of all 10 category scores (on the 0-100 scale). Round to the nearest whole number.
5. Identify the top 3 highest-scoring categories (Strengths).
6. Identify the bottom 3 lowest-scoring categories (Growth Opportunities).
- Continue the same message with this AI generation section (paste directly below the calculation section):
AI GENERATION (use Lovable AI for this part):
Send the calculated scores and the user's raw responses to Lovable AI with this system prompt:
"You are a senior ministry consultant with decades of experience helping churches grow and thrive. You have just reviewed a comprehensive ministry health assessment for a church. Your role is to provide encouraging yet honest, biblically grounded, strategically actionable consulting insights.
Based on the assessment data provided, generate the following sections:
1. STRENGTHS (for the top 3 scoring categories):
For each strength, write 2-3 sentences that: acknowledge what the church is doing well in this area, explain why this strength matters for overall ministry health, and suggest how they can leverage this strength to elevate other areas.
2. GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES (for the bottom 3 scoring categories):
For each growth opportunity, write 2-3 sentences that: honestly name the gap without being discouraging, explain the potential impact of improving this area, and provide one specific, practical first step they could take in the next 30 days.
3. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (2-3 paragraphs):
Write a personalized narrative that: opens with an encouraging observation about the ministry's overall health, identifies the most important strategic pattern (e.g., strong in people but weak in systems, or strong in internal ministry but underdeveloped externally), names the single highest-leverage improvement area, and closes with an encouraging statement about their potential for growth.
TONE: Write like a trusted advisor who genuinely cares about this ministry's success. Be specific (reference their actual scores and categories), be honest (do not avoid hard truths), be encouraging (always point toward hope and actionable next steps), and be biblically informed (reference scriptural principles where natural, but do not force Bible verses into every sentence).
DO NOT: Use generic advice that could apply to any church. Every insight must be grounded in their specific assessment scores."
- Finish the message with this section that tells Lovable how to save results and handle loading:
AFTER AI GENERATES:
- Save the full report (strengths, growth opportunities, executive summary) to the database in the snapshot_reports table
- Save all category scores to the database
- Redirect the user to the results/dashboard page where the full Snapshot is displayed
IMPORTANT: Show a loading state while the AI generates ("Analyzing your ministry data and preparing your Kingdom Growth Snapshot...") because this may take a few seconds.
- Submit the combined message and wait for Lovable to process it (this may take 30-60 seconds).
What does this prompt tell Lovable to do?
This single message gives Lovable three distinct jobs. First, calculation logic that converts raw 1-5 question scores into a 0-100 Ministry Health Score with maturity labels. Second, a detailed system prompt that tells the AI exactly how to write like a consulting advisor. Third, instructions to save everything to the snapshot_reports database table and show a loading state during generation.
The AI calls run through secure backend edge functions automatically. You do not need to manage API keys or configure a separate AI provider.
- In the Lovable preview panel, click through to the assessment completion screen.
- Click Generate My Snapshot and verify that a loading message appears ("Analyzing your ministry data and preparing your Kingdom Growth Snapshot...").
You should see the loading state activate. The results page that appears next will look rough because you have not styled it yet.
Nothing happens when you click Generate?
If the button does nothing, Lovable may not have connected the completion screen to the AI generation logic. Send a follow-up message: "When the user clicks Generate My Snapshot on the completion screen, trigger the AI analysis function and show the loading state."
If you see an error about Lovable Cloud not being connected, check your workspace settings under Connectors and confirm Cloud is set to "Always allow".
Why isn't my AI generation triggering after clicking Generate My Snapshot?
Send the results page display prompt
The AI now generates insights, but they need a professional visual layout. A consulting report should feel polished, not like a raw data dump.
- In the Lovable message box, paste the following results page layout prompt. Start with this section covering the score display and category breakdown:
Design the results/dashboard page to display the Kingdom Growth Snapshot like a professional consulting report. Layout:
TOP SECTION:
- Large heading: "Your Kingdom Growth Snapshot"
- Subheading: "Generated [date] for [user's name or church name if collected]"
- The Ministry Health Score displayed as a large number (e.g., "72") inside a circular progress ring that fills proportionally. Below the number, show the maturity label (e.g., "Healthy").
- Color the ring based on score: red (0-20), orange (21-40), yellow (41-60), green (61-80), dark green (81-100).
CATEGORY BREAKDOWN SECTION:
- A grid or horizontal bar chart showing all 10 category scores
- Each category shows: name, score out of 100, maturity label, and a color-coded bar or indicator
- Sort by score (highest to lowest) so strengths are visually prominent at the top
- Continue the same message with the insights sections and upgrade teaser:
STRENGTHS SECTION:
- Heading: "Your Top 3 Ministry Strengths"
- Display each strength with the category name, score, and the AI-generated explanation in a card format
- Use a green accent or checkmark icon
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES SECTION:
- Heading: "Your Top 3 Growth Opportunities"
- Display each opportunity with the category name, score, and the AI-generated recommendation in a card format
- Use a gold/amber accent or arrow-up icon
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY SECTION:
- Heading: "Executive Summary"
- Display the AI-generated narrative in clean paragraph format
UPGRADE TEASER (bottom of page):
- A subtle, professional section with the heading: "Ready for the Full Kingdom Growth Report?"
- Brief text: "The complete Kingdom Growth Consultant experience includes department-by-department analysis, a customized 30-60-90 day action plan, strategic recommendations, and a long-term growth roadmap."
- A button: "Join the Waitlist" (this can link to a simple email capture for now)
Make sure this page is accessible whenever the user logs in after completing their assessment. If they have a completed report, the dashboard should show it immediately upon login.
- Submit the message and wait for Lovable to update the application.
What does this prompt design?
This prompt transforms the results page into a professional consulting report layout. The circular progress ring gives pastors an instant visual read on their overall health. The color-coded category breakdown lets them scan all 10 areas at a glance.
The upgrade teaser at the bottom plants the seed for the premium tier without being pushy. It gives curious pastors somewhere to express interest while you build the full product.
- In the preview panel, navigate to the results page (you may need to complete a quick assessment or click through to the results view).
- Verify that you see: a large Ministry Health Score inside a circular progress ring, the 10-category breakdown with color-coded bars, sections for Strengths, Growth Opportunities, and Executive Summary, and the upgrade teaser at the bottom.
If any sections are missing or misaligned, send a follow-up message to Lovable describing the specific issue (e.g., "The circular progress ring is not showing. Please add a circular SVG progress indicator around the Ministry Health Score number").
Results page showing raw text instead of styled cards?
If the AI-generated content displays as a wall of plain text rather than in card sections, send Lovable this follow-up: "Please format the Strengths and Growth Opportunities as individual cards, each with the category name as a heading, the score displayed with a badge, and the AI-generated text in the card body."
My results page layout isn't matching the design I specified. How do I fix it?
Test AI output quality with multiple scenarios
The layout is in place. Now you need to verify that the AI generates insights that are specific to each pastor's answers, not generic advice that could apply to any church.
- In the preview, complete the full assessment with realistic mixed scores. Rate Leadership and Vision and Worship Experience high (4-5 on each question). Rate Digital Ministry and Communications and Strategic Planning low (1-2 on each question). Rate everything else in the middle (3).
- Click Generate My Snapshot and wait for the AI to process.
Before you look at the results, ask yourself: what do you expect to see in the top 3 strengths and top 3 growth opportunities given the scores you entered?
- Review the generated Snapshot. Verify that:
What makes good AI output?
The output should read like a real consulting debrief. Look for specific references like "Your Leadership and Vision score of 88 places you in the Thriving range" rather than vague statements like "you have strong leadership." The growth opportunities should include a concrete first step a pastor could take in the next 30 days.
- If the AI output is too generic, send Lovable this refinement message: "The AI analysis needs to be more specific. It should reference exact category names and scores in its recommendations. For example, instead of saying 'you have strong leadership,' it should say 'Your Leadership and Vision score of 88 places you in the Thriving range, indicating that...'"
- Test a second scenario with all high scores (rate every question 4 or 5). Verify the AI still finds nuance and suggestions rather than just celebrating.
- Test a third scenario with all low scores (rate every question 1 or 2). Verify the AI is encouraging and constructive, not discouraging.
- Log out of the preview, then log back in. Verify that your completed Snapshot report still displays on the dashboard.
Your Kingdom Growth Snapshot now persists in the database. Pastors can return anytime to review their results.
AI output feels generic or scores look wrong?
If strengths and growth opportunities do not match your highest and lowest categories, the score calculation logic may be off. Send Lovable: "The top 3 strengths should be the 3 categories with the highest average scores, and the top 3 growth opportunities should be the 3 categories with the lowest average scores. Please verify the sorting logic."
If the report does not persist after logging out and back in, ask Lovable: "Please ensure the full Snapshot report saves to the snapshot_reports table and loads from the database when a user returns to the results page."
Help me improve the quality of my AI-generated Kingdom Growth Snapshot.
Your application now delivers real consulting value. A pastor completes the assessment and receives an AI-generated Snapshot that speaks directly to their ministry's unique profile. Next up, you will deploy this to a live URL and test the complete end-to-end experience with a fresh account.
Deploy and Test Your Live Application
Your Kingdom Growth Snapshot works beautifully in preview, but a preview is not a product. Until it is live at a real URL and tested end-to-end by someone who did not build it, you do not have something you can share with pastors.
In this step, you will apply final polish (branding, navigation logic, error handling, and mobile optimization), deploy to a live URL, and run a complete end-to-end test to confirm the full experience works without errors.
In this step, get ready to:
- Apply final branding, navigation, error handling, and mobile optimization.
- Publish the application to a live URL.
- Run a complete end-to-end test on the deployed application.
Send the final polish prompt and publish
Before going live, the application needs finishing touches that turn a working prototype into a professional product. Branding, smart navigation, graceful error handling, and mobile responsiveness all signal quality to a pastor visiting for the first time.
- In the Lovable editor chat, paste the following final polish prompt:
Before I publish, please make these final refinements:
1. BRANDING:
- Add "Kingdom Growth AI" as a subtle wordmark in the top-left navigation
- Ensure the page title (browser tab) reads "Kingdom Growth Snapshot | AI-Powered Ministry Consulting"
- Add meta description for SEO: "Free AI-powered ministry health assessment. Evaluate 10 areas of your church's health and receive personalized consulting insights in minutes."
2. NAVIGATION:
- After login, if the user has not completed an assessment, take them directly to the assessment
- After login, if the user has a completed assessment, take them to their results dashboard
- Add a simple navigation bar: Logo/Wordmark on left, "My Results" link (if assessment completed), "Logout" button on right
3. FOOTER (on all pages):
- "Kingdom Growth Snapshot is a product of Kingdom Growth AI"
- "\u00a9 2025 Kingdom Growth AI. All rights reserved."
- Link to a simple "About" or "Contact" page (can be a placeholder for now)
4. ERROR HANDLING:
- If AI generation fails, show a friendly error message: "We encountered an issue generating your Snapshot. Please try again." with a retry button
- If a user tries to access results without completing the assessment, redirect them to continue the assessment
5. MOBILE OPTIMIZATION:
- Ensure the assessment is easy to use on a phone (maturity scale options should be large enough to tap)
- Results page should stack vertically on mobile with the Ministry Health Score at the top
What does this prompt cover?
- Branding adds the wordmark, page title, and meta description so the app looks professional when shared.
- Navigation logic sends returning users straight to their results instead of making them navigate manually.
- Error handling prevents a dead end if the AI generation fails. The retry button keeps the user in flow.
- Mobile optimization ensures the maturity scale options are tappable on a phone, since many pastors will complete the assessment on mobile.
- Wait for Lovable to process the changes (this may take 30-60 seconds).
- Review the preview panel to confirm the wordmark appears in the top-left navigation and the footer displays on the welcome page.
Now you are ready to publish. The publish flow deploys your application to a live URL anyone can visit.
- Click the Publish icon in the top-right corner of your project.
- In the Publish dialog, review your settings. You can enter a preferred URL subdomain (e.g. kingdom-growth-snapshot) or leave it for Lovable to auto-generate one.
- Click Publish.
- When the deployment is complete, Lovable displays your published link (e.g. kingdom-growth-snapshot.lovable.app).
- Copy that URL and open it in a new browser tab to confirm the welcome page loads.
Page not loading at the published URL?
- Give it 30-60 seconds. Lovable provisions hosting and SSL, which can take a moment on the first publish.
- If you see a security warning, wait for SSL to activate and refresh after a minute.
- If the page still does not load, return to the Lovable editor and check for error messages in the chat. Help me troubleshoot why my published app is not loading.
Run the complete end-to-end test on the live URL
Testing in preview uses the same browser session and cached data. An incognito window simulates a real pastor visiting for the first time, with no existing session or stored data.
- Open an incognito or private browser window (Cmd+Shift+N on macOS, Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows).
- Paste your deployed URL into the address bar and press Enter.
- Verify the welcome page displays with the headline, the "What You'll Receive" section, and the Start Your Free Assessment button.
- Click the CTA button and register a brand new account with a fresh email address.
- Complete all 27 assessment questions across all 10 categories.
- On the completion screen, click Generate My Snapshot.
- Wait for the AI to generate your Kingdom Growth Snapshot (this may take up to 15 seconds).
Before you look at the results page, predict what you expect to see. Based on the scores you gave, which categories do you think will show up as strengths?
- Review your Kingdom Growth Snapshot on the results page and verify these elements:
- Spot-check one category: count the scores you gave for its questions, calculate the average, and multiply by 20. Confirm it matches the displayed score.
Now test that the data persists across sessions.
- Click Logout in the navigation bar.
- Log back in with the same account you just created.
- Confirm the results page loads immediately with your full Kingdom Growth Snapshot intact.
Why does session persistence matter?
Pastors will not complete the assessment and review results in one sitting. They need to return days later and find their report waiting. If the report disappears after logout, the product is broken.
- Test on a mobile device (or toggle responsive mode in your browser using the device toolbar in Chrome DevTools or Cmd+Shift+M in Firefox).
- Confirm the assessment maturity scale options are large enough to tap and the results page stacks vertically with the Ministry Health Score at the top.
Seeing errors during the end-to-end test?
- If registration fails, return to the Lovable editor and send: "Registration is not working on the live URL. Please check the authentication setup in Lovable Cloud."
- If AI generation hangs or errors, check that the error handling message appears ("We encountered an issue generating your Snapshot. Please try again."). If not, send Lovable a follow-up asking it to verify the error handling is in place.
- If scores look wrong, ask Lovable: "My category scores do not match what I expected. Please check the averaging and 0-100 mapping."
- After fixing any issues, click the Publish icon again to republish with the latest changes.
- Still stuck? Help me debug my deployed Kingdom Growth Snapshot.
Final verification and share readiness
The ultimate test is whether someone else can use your application without guidance. If it works for them, you have a validated product.
- Copy your deployed URL and open it on a different device (a phone, a tablet, or a second computer).
- Alternatively, share the URL with one trusted person and ask them to create an account and start the assessment.
- Confirm it loads and functions without any guidance from you.
Before you check the URL preview, predict what you think will appear when you paste the URL into a messaging app. What title and description should show?
- Paste the URL into a text message, Slack, or social media post (without sending it).
- Verify the link preview shows the title "Kingdom Growth Snapshot | AI-Powered Ministry Consulting" and the meta description you set.
- If the preview does not display correctly, return to the Lovable editor and ask: "The meta title and description are not showing when I share the URL. Please verify the meta tags are set correctly." Then republish.
Link previews can be cached
Messaging platforms like Slack and iMessage cache link previews. If you tested the URL before adding meta tags, the old preview may be cached. Try sharing to a platform where you have not pasted this URL before, or wait for the cache to refresh.
Something broken on the live site?
- Fix the issue in the Lovable editor by sending a message describing the problem.
- After Lovable applies the fix, click the Publish icon again (you will see an indicator showing there are unpublished changes).
- Click Publish to redeploy.
- Refresh your live URL to confirm the fix.
- Need help? Help me fix an issue on my live Kingdom Growth Snapshot.
Your Kingdom Growth Snapshot is now live and ready to share with pastors for validation. You have a real product at a real URL that demonstrates consulting value.
Next up, you will tackle a Secret Mission: adding a branded PDF export so pastors can download and share their Kingdom Growth Snapshot with their leadership team.
Secret mission
Add PDF Export for the Kingdom Growth Snapshot
Pastors need to share their Kingdom Growth Snapshot with elders, board members, and leadership teams. A downloadable PDF transforms the digital report into a professional consulting deliverable they can print, email, or present in meetings. In this secret mission, you will add a "Download PDF Report" button to the results page that generates a branded, 4-page PDF using a server-side edge function.
Clean Up Your Resources
Clean Up Your Resources
Decide whether to keep your resources running, pause them to come back later, or delete them entirely. Your Kingdom Growth Snapshot runs on Lovable Pro at $25/month, which covers hosting, database, AI features, and your live URL.
Cost warning
Your Lovable Pro subscription costs $25/month and renews automatically. If you leave it running, pastors can continue using your app. Each assessment completion that triggers AI generation consumes credits from your monthly balance.
If you do not plan to actively use the application, consider pausing (downgrading to Free) or deleting the project to stop charges.
Resources you used:
- Lovable Pro subscription ($25/month recurring charge).
- Lovable Cloud backend (database, authentication, edge functions for PDF generation and AI).
- A deployed Kingdom Growth Snapshot web application at a live URL.
- A database storing user accounts, assessment responses, and AI-generated snapshot reports.
Keep everything running
No action needed. Choose this if you are still actively building or sharing the Kingdom Growth Snapshot with pastors for validation.
- Your app stays live and accessible at its deployed URL.
- Lovable Pro at $25/month covers hosting, database, and AI features.
- Monitor your credit usage as pastors complete assessments. The 20 free Cloud credits per month cover light usage. Heavier traffic draws from your 100 monthly plan credits.
- Your Lovable account and workspace remain active.
Pause - I'll come back to this later
Downgrade to the Free plan to stop paying $25/month. Your project remains editable but you lose publishing, Cloud features, and AI in the deployed app.
- Open your Lovable dashboard at lovable.dev.
- Click your workspace settings (bottom-left of the dashboard).
- Navigate to Plans & credit usage.
- Select Manage, then Downgrade to free.
- Complete the downgrade flow. Your current plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
What happens after downgrading?
Your published app stays live at its URL. Downgrading does not unpublish your project. However, apps using Lovable Cloud or AI features still need available credits to serve requests.
Assessment data is preserved. You can upgrade back to Pro at any time to restore full functionality.
Delete - I don't want to use this again
Remove the Kingdom Growth Snapshot project from Lovable entirely. This deletes the application code, database, and all stored user data permanently.
- Open your Kingdom Growth Snapshot project in Lovable.
- Click Project Settings (gear icon).
- Scroll down to the Danger Zone section.
- Click Delete Project and confirm the deletion. This action is final and cannot be undone.
- To also cancel your Pro subscription, go to Settings (workspace level), then Plans & credit usage.
- Select Manage, then Downgrade to free to stop the $25/month charge.
This cannot be reversed
Deleting the project permanently removes all application code, database records (user accounts, assessment responses, snapshot reports), and the deployed URL. There is no way to restore a deleted project.
That's a Wrap!
That's a Wrap!
Nice work. You just built and deployed a live AI-powered ministry consulting platform using Lovable, without writing a single line of code.
You've learned how to:
- Build and deploy a live AI-powered web application using Lovable and Lovable Cloud, going from a natural language prompt to a production URL in a single session.
- Design a 10-category, 5-level maturity assessment framework with 27 questions that measure ministry health from Not Established to Thriving.
- Integrate AI-powered analysis that generates personalized Kingdom Growth Snapshot reports with a Ministry Health Score, strengths, growth opportunities, and an executive summary unique to each ministry.
- Added professional PDF export via a server-side edge function so pastors can download and share their Kingdom Growth Snapshot with leadership teams.
