Target a Frontend Role With AI
Use Teal to tailor a truthful resume and track a verified frontend role.
Introduction
30 Second Summary
Frontend vacancies often ask for different evidence, even when the job titles look almost identical. A generic resume can bury your strongest proof beneath details that matter less to a particular role.
In this project, you will use Teal to turn your existing resume into a focused application kit for one real frontend role. The finished kit pairs AI-assisted matching with a truthful targeted PDF plus a verified opportunity in your tracker.
What You'll Build
You can open a targeted resume beside the verified frontend vacancy it supports, ready to explain the real experience behind every keyword choice.
By the end of this project, you'll have:
- A real frontend target you can open in Teal's Job Tracker, with its title, company, location, link, and description together.
- A keyword baseline that shows where your resume already supports the role. It also identifies genuine experience that deserves clearer wording.
- A role-targeted PDF resume that highlights frontend achievements you can defend in an interview.
- Secret Mission: A saved frontend search with an active alert for the next matching opportunity.
What do I need before starting?
You need an existing resume in .docx or .pdf format, with a text-paste fallback if your file cannot be used. You do not need a LinkedIn account or browser extension.
Before We Start
A focused application starts with one frontend role and one truthful result you can defend. Capturing both in a single sentence gives every later resume choice a clear standard.
Set Up Teal and Import Your Resume
You already have a target frontend role. You also have a truthful result to support it.
Teal needs an accurate source resume before it can compare your experience with a real vacancy. You'll create a free account before importing your existing resume.
Then you'll correct the parsed record so later AI suggestions begin with accurate evidence.
In this step, get ready to:
- Create a free Teal account without entering payment information.
- Import your existing resume into Resume Builder.
- Review the parsed resume for accuracy.
Why Teal for this workflow?
Teal keeps resume import in the same browser-based workflow used later for matching plus application tracking. This reduces handoffs between separate tools.
Create your free Teal account
Teal Free includes resume import. No credit card is required to start.
Account setup asks for sign-in details. Your project stays on the Free plan without adding payment information.
- Visit the Teal website in your browser.
The homepage provides a path for creating a free account.
- Choose the free account option.
- Complete account setup on the Free plan by following the on-screen prompts.
You're now signed in to Teal without adding payment information. Your free account is ready for your source resume.
- Confirm that you are signed in to the Free plan.
Can't finish account setup?
- Refresh the browser if the account flow stops advancing.
- Retry the free account path in a private browser window if an old session returns you to sign-in.
- Help me finish setting up my free Teal account.
Import your existing resume
Resume Builder converts your existing document into a structured record. Using that document keeps the imported resume grounded in claims you already made.
- Select Resume Builder in Teal.
- Choose Resume File from the import options.
A file picker lets you choose the source document from your device.
- Select your existing .docx or .pdf resume.
Teal begins processing the selected file. The next screen depends on whether Teal can use its contents.
✔️ My Resume Imported
Your existing resume is now parsed in Resume Builder. That's the import complete.
ⓧ My File Cannot Be Used
Paste Text lets you provide the resume content directly.
- Return to the resume import choices in Resume Builder.
- Choose Paste Text.
You'll see a text field for your resume content.
- Copy the full resume text from your original document.
- Paste the copied content into the available text field.
The text field should now contain your complete resume.
- Complete the import using the page's continuation control.
Resume Builder displays the parsed resume after the import finishes.
Review and correct the parsed resume
Importing a resume separates its content into editable fields. Dates or achievements can land in the wrong place during parsing.
- Compare the parsed contact details with your original resume.
- Compare the parsed employment dates with your original resume.
- Compare the parsed skills with your original resume.
- Compare the parsed achievements with your original resume.
A mismatch here would distort the evidence used by Job Matcher later.
- Correct each mismatch in its corresponding Resume Builder field.
- Confirm that your strongest truthful result still appears accurately.
Before you check the finished preview, which parts of your original resume do you expect to recognise first?
- Return to the Resume Builder preview after finishing your corrections.
- Confirm that your contact information appears in the preview.
- Confirm that at least one work-experience entry appears in the preview.
You should now see your contact information plus at least one work-experience entry in the Resume Builder preview. That's the source document secured for every targeting decision that follows.
Preview missing resume details?
- Check whether a heading or date landed in a neighboring field.
- Correct any missing work entry in the editable experience fields.
- Help me correct my imported Teal resume.
Your free Teal account now holds an accurate source resume. Next up, you'll save one real frontend role that gives every later edit a clear target.
Find and Save a Frontend Role
Your imported resume is now accurate inside Teal. It reflects the experience you can genuinely prove.
A generic resume has no concrete target. In this step, Teal's Job Search gives you one current frontend vacancy so every later edit has a purpose.
In this step, get ready to:
- Search for frontend developer roles using filters that reflect your real constraints.
- Choose a current vacancy with substantial overlap with your experience.
- Save the complete vacancy in Job Tracker with a Bookmarked status.
Search for frontend developer roles
Job Search filters turn a broad list of vacancies into roles that fit your availability. Your choices should reflect the opportunities you can realistically pursue.
- Switch from Resume Builder to Job Search using Teal's navigation.
- Enter frontend developer in the search field.
- Submit the search.
- Select All Filters.
- Choose a Date Posted option that keeps the results current for your search.
- Choose the Workplace Type that matches your remote or on-site constraints.
- Choose the Experience Level that matches your professional background.
- Choose the Job Type that matches the work you can accept.
You should now see frontend developer listings narrowed by your selected constraints.
No useful roles in the results?
- Broaden Date Posted if the search returns too few current roles.
- Relax one lower-priority filter while keeping your hard constraints.
- Help me adjust my Teal Job Search filters without losing my real job requirements.
Choose a credible target role
A credible target asks for skills or outcomes that your resume already supports. This overlap gives you real evidence to emphasize during the tailoring process.
What Counts as Substantial Overlap?
Strong overlap means the role asks for several skills or outcomes already supported by your resume.
Your evidence must come from work you can explain clearly in an interview.
- Open one current frontend listing from the filtered results.
- Read the required skills.
- Read the role responsibilities.
- Compare the required skills with your imported resume from earlier.
- Compare the responsibilities with achievements you can genuinely prove.
- Confirm the role's experience level fits your background.
- Confirm the posting still accepts applications.
- Choose the vacancy with the strongest truthful overlap.
Save the vacancy in Job Tracker
A complete Job Tracker entry preserves the vacancy as your application target. Manual entry also works without the optional browser extension.
- Select Job Tracker in Teal's navigation.
- Select Add a New Job from the Job Tracker grid.
- Enter the selected role title in Job Title.
- Enter the employer's name in Company Name.
- Enter the role's listed location in Location.
- Paste the listing URL into Original Posting URL.
- Paste the complete vacancy text into Job Description.
Why Save the Full Description?
The original URL does not fill the remaining job details in Teal.
The complete description gives resume matching the source text it needs in the next step.
- Keep the initial status set to Bookmarked.
- Select Save Job.
Teal should take you to the detailed view of the role you just saved.
Before you return to the grid, which vacancy details do you expect the new row to show?
- Return to the Job Tracker grid.
- Locate the row for your selected frontend role.
You should see the selected frontend title in one row. The same row should show the company.
You should also see the location. Its status should read Bookmarked.
- Open the saved role from that row.
The detailed view should show the original job URL. It should preserve the complete job description.
Can't Find the Saved Vacancy?
- Check whether the Job Tracker grid has an active stage filter hiding the Bookmarked row.
- Repeat the manual entry if Save Job did not create a detailed view.
- Help me find or repair my manually saved Teal Job Tracker entry.
Your tracker now holds a current frontend opportunity with the details needed for matching. Next, you will compare its description with your unedited resume to expose the gaps.
Analyze Keyword Gaps
Your tracker now holds one current frontend vacancy. That role gives Teal a concrete target for comparison.
You'll use Job Matcher to compare the untouched resume with the saved job description. The resulting baseline gives you evidence for every later editing decision.
In this step, get ready to:
- Connect the saved frontend vacancy to your imported resume.
- Record the visible included keywords and missing keywords.
- Classify each missing keyword using your real experience.
Connect the saved vacancy
Job Matcher compares the language in your resume with the language in a job description. The unedited result becomes your baseline.
- Switch back to the Resume Builder page in the Teal browser tab from earlier.
- Select the reviewed imported resume.
- Select Job Matcher in the Resume Builder toolbar.
Before you choose the vacancy, do you think your current resume already uses all of the relevant language from the job description?
- Select the tracked frontend vacancy from your bookmarked Job Tracker entries.
You'll see green included keywords and red missing keywords. This visible shortfall is intentional.
Good. Your untouched resume now has a concrete comparison point against the role you selected.
How to read the baseline
- Green means a keyword from the job description is included in your resume.
- Red means a keyword from the job description is missing from your resume.
- The Free plan surfaces a limited set of keywords. That set is enough for this focused baseline.
Can't find the saved vacancy?
- Search for the vacancy by its title if it does not appear immediately.
- Search for the vacancy by its company if the title returns several results.
- Return to Job Tracker to confirm the vacancy still has a Bookmarked status.
- Help me connect my saved vacancy to Job Matcher in Teal.
Record the untouched baseline
A written baseline preserves the original comparison before you tailor anything. It also stops individual suggestions from blurring together.
- Create a blank note in a note-taking tool you already use.
- Type Included keywords as the first heading.
- Copy every visible green keyword under Included keywords.
- Type Missing keywords as the next heading.
- Copy every visible red keyword under Missing keywords.
You should see two separate sections in your note. Together, they preserve the visible Job Matcher result from the untouched resume.
Classify every missing keyword
A red keyword can represent genuine experience that your resume omitted. It can also represent experience outside your history.
Your evidence decides which category applies. Every eligible keyword needs a specific example you can explain truthfully.
- Add Genuine experience omitted from the resume below your missing-keyword baseline.
- Add Experience I do not have below the first classification heading.
- Review each visible red keyword against your actual work history.
- Copy every keyword you can support with a specific example under Genuine experience omitted from the resume.
- Copy every remaining keyword under Experience I do not have.
What counts as truthful evidence?
Truthful evidence comes from work you genuinely completed. You should be able to describe your contribution without inventing a technology, responsibility, scope, or metric.
Only keywords in Genuine experience omitted from the resume are eligible for resume edits. The other group remains outside the application.
Before you check the finished baseline, which classification do you expect to contain more keywords?
- Return to the Job Matcher tab in Resume Builder.
- Compare the visible green keywords with your Included keywords list.
- Compare the visible red keywords with your Missing keywords list.
- Confirm every visible red keyword also appears under exactly one classification heading.
You should now see the saved vacancy selected in Job Matcher. Your note should record every visible green keyword and every visible red keyword.
Strong work. Each red keyword now has a truthful decision attached to it, so unsupported experience cannot slip into the targeted resume.
Your keyword baseline is recorded and every visible gap has been tested against your real history. Next, you'll tailor the resume using only evidence you can defend.
Tailor and Export Your Resume
Your Job Matcher baseline in Teal exposed how your imported resume compares with the saved frontend role. That gap gives every edit a clear purpose.
The risk now is accepting polished wording that overstates your history. You will sharpen the evidence you already have while keeping every claim defensible in an interview.
In this step, get ready to:
- Use one or two eligible keywords to refine truthful resume bullets.
- Focus your summary on your strongest frontend evidence.
- Review the finished resume before exporting it as a PDF.
Refine one or two truthful keywords
A missing keyword is useful only when it points to experience you can prove. The magic pencil can draft wording quickly.
- Switch back to the Job Matcher tab connected to your tracked vacancy.
- Choose one missing keyword from the genuine experience omitted group.
- Hover over that keyword.
- Select the magic pencil to generate bullet options.
- Review each generated option against your original resume.
- Select use bullet for the most accurate option.
The selected wording still needs a factual audit before it belongs in your application.
Use Evidence as the Filter
AI can generate fluent wording without knowing which details your records support. Your experience remains the source of truth.
- A metric belongs only when you can verify the number.
- Scope must match the work you actually completed.
- Technologies must come from tools you genuinely used.
- Responsibilities must reflect duties you genuinely held.
- Remove any invented metric that you cannot verify.
- Remove unsupported scope from the selected wording.
- Remove technologies you did not use.
- Remove responsibilities you did not hold.
- Repeat the drafting pass for one second eligible keyword only if it adds distinct evidence.
- Read each revised bullet against the source experience in your original resume.
You should be able to explain the source of every claim.
No Suggestion Stays Truthful?
- Discard the generated options when every version changes the truth.
- Keep your original bullet when the generated wording adds unsupported detail.
- Leave the keyword missing when you cannot support it with genuine experience.
- Help me review an AI-generated resume bullet for unsupported claims.
Focus the summary and strongest evidence
Your summary should lead with relevant proof. Your active bullets should reinforce it.
- Return to the resume editor within Resume Builder.
- Find your current professional summary.
- Rewrite the summary around the target frontend role.
- Anchor the summary with your strongest provable result.
Choose the Strongest Evidence
- Frontend delivery evidence names something you shipped.
- User experience evidence connects your work to a clearer interaction.
- Performance evidence connects your work to a measurable improvement.
- Accessibility evidence shows how your work included more users.
- Collaboration evidence shows how you delivered with other people.
- Activate the existing bullets that best match the vacancy.
- Remove low-value content that distracts from those bullets.
- Check the resume preview after the edits.
You should see the target role reflected in the summary. The preview should foreground evidence already supported by your history.
Review and export the PDF
The export guide is your last quality gate. It lets you review the resume before the file leaves Teal.
- Select Export PDF in the upper-right corner of Resume Builder.
- Select Resume as the export type.
- Review Resume Sections to confirm the intended content is present.
- Review Analysis for issues that would weaken readability.
- Review Job Matching to confirm the resume still targets the saved vacancy.
- Select Export at the top of the panel to download the PDF.
Before you open the PDF, do you think its strongest evidence will point clearly to the target frontend role?
- Open the downloaded PDF in your browser or PDF viewer.
- Read the professional summary from the perspective of the target employer.
- Check every selected achievement against experience you can defend in an interview.
You should see a summary that clearly supports the target frontend role. Every selected achievement should remain truthful under closer questioning.
That is the judgment-heavy part done. Your PDF now targets a real role without asking you to defend invented experience.
Found an Unsupported Claim?
- Return to Resume Builder when the PDF contains an unsupported claim.
- Correct the source wording before exporting a replacement.
- Repeat the export guide review before selecting Export again.
- Help me audit my tailored resume before I export it again.
Your role-targeted PDF is ready. Next, you will independently verify the employer before staging the opportunity for application.
Verify and Stage the Application
Your role-targeted PDF from Teal is ready after a truthful matching pass. The saved vacancy now needs independent verification before you share more personal information.
A polished application is unsafe when its listing is fake. You will confirm the role on the employer's official careers site before staging it as active work.
In this step, get ready to:
- Verify that the employer publishes the same frontend opening on its official careers site.
- Save the official careers URL with a focused outreach draft.
- Move the verified opportunity to Applying after a final personal review.
Verify the opening on the employer's website
An independently found careers listing gives you a second source for checking the vacancy. This protects you from relying on details copied into a third-party listing.
- Switch to a new browser tab.
- Search the web for the employer's official website.
- Open the website that belongs to the employer.
- Open the website's careers or jobs area.
- Find the saved role using its title.
- Compare the official title with the title in your saved vacancy.
- Compare the official location with the location in your saved vacancy.
- Compare the official core description with the description in your saved vacancy.
If all three details match, the employer's site confirms that the saved opening is current. That is the safety check complete.
Can't verify the opening?
- Stop if the official opening conflicts with a core detail in the saved vacancy.
- Keep the vacancy at Bookmarked while it remains unverified.
- Choose another current role if the employer's careers area does not contain this opening.
- Ask for help assessing the mismatch: Help me compare a saved job listing with an employer's official opening.
- Record the verified opening's URL here: official employer careers URL.
Add the official link and outreach draft
The Notes area keeps your verification evidence beside the vacancy. A focused outreach draft gives you a clear starting point for a human conversation.
- Return to the Job Tracker from earlier.
- Select the saved frontend vacancy.
- Open its Notes area.
- Add official employer careers URL to the note.
The note now connects your tracked vacancy to the employer's independently verified opening.
- Start the outreach draft by naming the frontend role.
- Add one relevant achievement that you can prove.
Your draft now identifies the opportunity and gives the reader one concrete reason to consider your fit.
- Finish the draft with a clear request to connect or discuss fit.
- Review the draft for unsupported claims.
The finished note should contain the official careers URL. It should also contain a concise message with the role, one truthful achievement, and a clear request.
Stage the role as Applying
The Applying status records that you are actively preparing the application. Submission remains under your control.
- Open the tailored PDF you downloaded in the previous step.
- Reread every claim in its professional summary.
- Reread every selected achievement.
- Return to the employer's official opening from earlier.
- Open the employer's application form.
- Review the form's fields and instructions.
- Keep the form unsubmitted during this staging step.
Your PDF and the employer's form have now received a final personal review. No automated suggestion makes the submission decision for you.
- Switch back to the Job Tracker from earlier.
- Click the status dropdown for the saved vacancy.
- Select Applying.
The tracked opportunity now shows Applying in place of Bookmarked.
Before you check the final entry, what three details should prove that the opportunity is verified and staged?
- Open the saved vacancy in the Job Tracker.
- Confirm that the official careers URL is visible in Notes.
- Confirm that the concise outreach draft is visible in Notes.
- Confirm that the vacancy shows an Applying status.
You should see the employer's official careers URL, your truthful outreach draft, and the Applying status in the tracked entry. That is the safety-critical part complete.
Missing part of the final entry?
- Use the status dropdown again if the role still shows Bookmarked.
- Reopen Notes if the official careers URL is missing.
- Complete the outreach draft if it lacks the role, a truthful achievement, or a clear request.
- Ask for help checking the tracker entry: Help me identify what is missing from my verified Teal Job Tracker entry.
