Welcome to this Build & Brew group on Discord!

Build & Brew (B&B) is NextWork's community program where you build alongside a tight-knit group of 4-8 people that commit to meeting up every week.

This is your inside look at a B&B group run by Dhatri and Adam that's building awesome (and hopefully helpful) projects.

What Is This Group Learning About?

This Build & Brew group will get you exploring wildly different cloud and AI topics, so you'll always be learning something new.

Goals and Aims:

In this Build & Brew group, you'll build hands-on projects in:

  1. Cloud infrastructure. [Section Under Review] You'll deploy your own app application, then move on to more complex topics like securing backend microservices.
  2. Everyday AI. You'll build tools that solve real problems, like a Spanish tutor built around construction-site terminology.
  3. Data architecture and visualization. You'll take messy datasets and use AI to design how it should be structured, then how it should be shown.

Do I need any experience to join this group?

Some cloud or AI experience would be useful (e.g. if you've done basic projects on both topics on NextWork), but your Build & Brew masters say they're actually new to these topics themselves! Expect to be building and learning alongside them, with all experience levels welcome.

Meet Your Build and Brew Masters

Now that you know about the group, let's meet the fantastic Build & Brew Masters running it!

Meet Dhatri Jayanth

Dhatri is an Informatics student at UT Austin and a researcher at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), bringing a systems and data lens to her projects!

Dhatri loved the experience of building her own portfolio site and learning how MCPs work through NextWork projects. The feeling of building something you'd be proud to showcase is exactly what she wants to hand her group.

Outside of her studies and building in AI, you'll find Dhatri enjoying a book, oil painting, or cooking!

Meet Adam Teller

Adam is a Staten Island native focused on AI for productivity and for automating anything repetitive.

As your Build & Brew Master, he favors imperfect action over perfect inaction and runs the group the same way. You bet that he'll make sure the group is constantly building and testing something instead of getting stuck planning it.

Adam is also a big believer in building tools that are immediately useful in solving your real world problems. It's why one of the first projects he's building is a Spanish tutor built specifically around construction-site terminology! That came straight from working alongside bilingual colleagues at work.

Off screen, Adam is playing disc golf or enjoying some unsweetened Colombe cold brew. Let's also not forget about hot coffee and tea.
