What NextWork collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated 27 October 2026
When you create an account, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, and profile information to provide you with a personalized learning experience.
We automatically collect information about how you interact with our platform, including pages viewed, features used, and time spent, to help us improve our services.
We collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and operating system to ensure the platform functions properly and securely.
When you build or generate projects on NextWork, we collect and store the content of those projects, including titles, descriptions, code, text, images, and other materials you produce. Some of this content may be displayed publicly as described in the Public project feed section below.
We use the information we collect to provide and improve our educational services, personalize your learning experience, track your progress, communicate updates, respond to your inquiries, analyze usage patterns, ensure security, and comply with our legal obligations.
We may share your information with third-party service providers who assist us with hosting, analytics and AI, such as Google Cloud's Vertex AI, which runs the AI models behind NextWork's AI features. These providers are obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
We may disclose your information when required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, such as a court order or subpoena.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you of any such change.
NextWork includes a live feed that displays projects generated on our platform in real time. When you create or generate a project, that project will appear in this feed, along with information such as the project's title, description, and content, and the name, username, or profile information of its creator. We do not currently offer a way to opt out of the feed or keep a project private, so every project you generate is publicly visible. For this reason, please do not include sensitive or personal information in your projects.
NextWork Proof lets you record how you build a NextWork project, so you can show your work to someone else, like a recruiter or an employer. It has two parts: the NextWork Proof extension for Chrome, and the NextWork CLI for your terminal. Each one asks for your consent before it records anything, and records only while a Recording is on.
On the websites you allow, while a Recording is on:
It never records what password, one-time-code, card, bank account or identity number fields hold, or fields labelled for a secret, and it masks the keys and tokens it finds. It never records sign-in pages, billing and payment pages, API-key pages, mail, banking, payment and crypto sites, password managers, health sites, government sites or adult sites: it notes only that a page was skipped, without its address. It recognises these pages by their address or by a password field, and it can miss some, so keep them out of a Recording. Chrome's own pages and incognito windows are never recorded either. Every other website you allow is recorded whatever it shows, http or https, including NextWork's own pages, pages on your computer, and chats and messages you open, so pause the Recording before opening anything private.
Screenshots are off until you turn them on in the extension menu. While they are on, at moments that might show your work, like opening the app you built or running your code, the extension sends NextWork the page's address, title and text and your last few clicks and keys, already masked. NextWork's AI decides from that text whether a screenshot is worth taking; it never sees a screenshot to decide. If it says yes, the extension takes one screenshot of the tab you're looking at, never of a page that isn't recorded or is held as sensitive, never while a Recording is paused, and spaced out: a few at the start, then about one for every 10 minutes recorded. A Recording keeps at most 40, counting any you take with the Take screenshot button. After each one, a small banner on the page says Screenshot taken, with a Discard button that deletes it; the banner is never in a screenshot. A screenshot shows everything on screen, which masking can't hide, so keep secrets off screen while screenshots are on. Screenshots are stored privately with your Recording, and NextWork may use them on your project's work page.
Keys, tokens and passwords are masked on your computer before anything is sent, and masked again on our servers. The extension also masks email addresses on sites outside NextWork's list; elsewhere, email addresses, hostnames and IP addresses stay in your Recording. Masking can miss a secret that doesn't look like one, so keep real secrets out of a Recording.
Pages, commands and files can show other people's information, like a customer list or a forum thread, and it is recorded with the rest, so keep a Recording to your NextWork project.
A Recording is sent over a secure connection to NextWork's servers on Google Cloud, for your account. We use it to keep it for you, to make your report and to write your project's work page. When you stop a Recording, NextWork may send what it captured to Google's Gemini AI models on Google Cloud's Vertex AI to write your work page and to follow your progress on the project. Email addresses, phone numbers and card numbers are masked before it is sent. Google processes it for us as our service provider and doesn't use it to train its models.
Your project's work page is public: anyone with its link can see it, and it can show everything a Recording captured, including what you typed, the text of pages you read and replies from AI chats. Keep anything you don't want others to see out of a Recording. NextWork staff don't read your Recording unless you ask us to, to keep the service safe, or when the law requires it.
You can also download your report and send it to anyone, like a recruiter. A copy you send is theirs to keep. We don't sell Recordings, use them for advertising or use them to train AI models. The extension's use of the information it collects follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
nextwork purge, it is deleted from our servers straight away, with everything captured in it and the steps your work page kept from it. Other work pages already written from it stay on your project until you ask us to remove them.nextwork purge or nextwork logout. You can turn off recording in Chrome at any time from the extension, remove the extension, or stop recording in your terminal with nextwork stop. Turning recording off keeps what was already captured until you delete the Recording or it expires.
